Members islandspeed Posted November 19, 2011 Members Posted November 19, 2011 My brother has been telling me about this website for several months. Don't think he is registered (Lurker). While I live on Amelia Island, FL, I do have connections to the Ozark area. Many summer vacations as a child were spent floating the White River before there were things called dams! Additionally I have spent much time in my younger years fishing Roaring River and Bennett Springs for trout. The primary reason I have registered is due to the fact that this spring, I plan on visiting my brother (Powersite) and spending 10 days fly fishing the great streams/rivers that are available. Will be looking for any tips/suggestions to make my trip better. Living in FL, the majority of my time is saltwater fishing from a kayak. Have been involved in this sport for the last ten years. Chasing redfish, trout, flounder and participating in the various kayak fishing tournaments in the SE USA. NE FL winters are mild in comparison to the mid-west. I have found that winter fishing is one of the best times of the year to fish. Right now the trout have moved in and the reds are schooling like crazy. 50 fish days are not uncommon this time of year. Looking forward to spending time on this website.
Buzz Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Welcome to OAF. There are a bunch of good guys here that will be more than willing to help. I like your avatar too. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Members islandspeed Posted November 20, 2011 Author Members Posted November 20, 2011 The avatar reflects my KS/MO upbringing and my living at the beach. Would use Saltwater Cowboy as my user name but one of my FL bud's uses it.
Buzz Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Very fitting. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Geoff Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Welcome! I on the other hand cant wait to leave MO and move to Fl, which hopefully happens in 4-5 years "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
ciRe Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Welcome! I have family in FL and never plan on moving there. I want to move up north or down by the Ozarks.
