Reports On Lower Illinois And Tenkiller

Does anyone know if any trout are being caught? if so what are they biting on and where would be a good place to fish? me and my father are coming up from texas to do some fishing and we need all the help we can get. never fished here before just drove by it once. we also plan on trying to catch some bass possibly at tenkiller. any suggestions on what to throw and where to fish?

i use a fly rod for the trout, and my dad uses a light spinning reel.

for bass we use plain setups.

Would greatly appreciate any suggestions. thanks...

Reportedly, they stocked last Wed & Fri. I fished hard on Thursday. Fished a couple of hours at Watts and my buddy and I didn't catch anything. Moved up to the gravel lot below the dam and fished around there the rest of the day. I did manage to catch a dozen or so, but had to work really hard to do it. Fishing was much slower than what I usually see down there. The fish I caught were on a small brownish wooly bugger fished dead drift below an indicator.

I would guess it is a little better now after the second stocking on Friday.

oh and one more thing the gravel lot you talked about, is that the gravel pit that is on the lower illinois map or is that the place that is right by the dam?

It's at the first parking area below the dam. Turn to go to the power house and it's the first turn on the right. Can't miss it.
