Members Wormser Posted November 29, 2011 Members Posted November 29, 2011 I'll be camping at the Meramec state Park in a few weeks and was wondering if the fishing in this area is any good especially this time of the year? I am aware there is a small spring just up river from the park, so maybe some Goggle Eye and Smallies will be held up in there? Also, is this too far down the Mac for Trout? Anyone else fish this area? Thanks in advance for replies, Luke
Al Agnew Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Way too far down for trout. The middle Meramec, which includes the area around the park, is good water for winter fishing. But the key is finding the fish. They won't be everywhere, but will be holed up in a few specific spots. There are a few of those spots in and around the park. Look for very slow, reasonably deep water with cover.
