Brian Wise Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Hey guys, This is copied from a blog post that is going to go on my site tomorrow. I thought since you guys helped me with some great ideas that I would put it on here before it hit my site. Kelly Galloup's Articulated Circus Peanut is the kick-off video of the Galloup line of streamers that I am going to cover for the next couple months or so. These articulated patterns are typically a LOT easier than they look and, quite frankly, if you can tie a Wooly Bugger you can pretty much tie most of Galloup's articulated patterns. It is pretty obvious I don't tie these "exactly" the way you will buy them at your local fly shop. The main thing you will notice is I use top-grade hooks. A big streamer pattern has to be able to hold a big fish....period--and a wide-gapped hook will do that better than the average, every-day Wooly Bugger hook. Also, I have updated the materials a bit. The UV Estaz is awesome and literally shines at night. Without further ado.....Kelly Galloup's Articulated Circus Peanut (full material list below) Make sure to watch in HD Trailer Hook: Mustad 34011 Size 4 Tail: Marabou Hackle: Semi-Webby Saddle Body: Estaz (in this case Estaz Lights UV) "Legs": Crazy Legs Articulated Connection: Beadalon Spacer: Glass Beads Lead Hook: TMC 8089 Size 2 Eyes: Painted Lead Hackle: Same as above, slightly larger (or Schlappeh) Body: Same as above My Youtube Channel
Cocry Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Awesome tie, awesome music. Can't beat LMFAO. Thanks for sharing.
Buzz Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Cool video. I think I'll give it a try. Thanks. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
DaddyO Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Wow. I liked that video. Looking forward to the others. Keep up the good work!! DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.

sean c Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Nice Brian kind of a peanut envy/circus peanut hybrid very cool. Are you noticing an improved hook up ratio with a wider gapped front hook? I'm still mainly using the 9395's but I just got back from a trip to the White and couldn't stick a fish on my streamers to save my life. Are there any other wide gapped hooks you are using or like besides the 8089?
Brian Wise Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 Gamakatsu B10s!!!!! I swear, if you look at the 8089np or the B10s wrong.....your fingers will bleed automatically. You will run into a lot of smashing takes with very few hookups on a fishery like the White. What happens is a stocker decides he wants to naw on something 1/2 it's size. Most of the time if a "real" fish is going to eat it....there is no stopping it, unless the fisherman does something stupid like setting the hook when they see a big fish open its mouth.........or is it just me that does that? sean c Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 unless the fisherman does something stupid like setting the hook when they see a big fish open its mouth.........or is it just me that does that? No sir you have company. Its just SOO hard to wait.
Kayser Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Using buzzbaits for bass greatly helped with my streamer hooksets. Gotta wait til you feel the fish to drive the hook home. But I think I've gotta go find some bass bug hooks now... Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
dave potts Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 That was the perfect speed Brian. Slow enough to clearly see the steps and materials you used but fast enough to keep your attention and not get bogged down with all the little details of mounting the hook, attaching the thread, etc. Dave
