Had some work to do on the boat this last week and got a little fishing in while I was down. They were running 3 light units and I found a good number of fish holding in some shallow riffles. They were obviously midging so I rigged up and then proceeded to get my butt kicked for the next hour until I got frustrated and left. Definitely humbling to see so many fish eating and not be able to catch them consistently.

I also made it over to Turkey Creek for an hour or so and found decent numbers of fish , nothing really big but enough action to make it enjoyable. I lucked out and didn't have any company on the stream so it was a good way to finish out the day.

Troutnut, I always hear people talking about fishing Turkey Creek. Last time I was in the area I found the creek, but couldn't find a good place to fish from the bank or wading. Not being very familiar with the area, could you give me some suggestions of where I could go or park without getting in trouble with a landowner or business owner? Thanks for your help.

Turkey Creek is unfishable. It's full of old refrigerators and other assorted hazardous waste. The woods and surrounding areas make "Deliverance" look like a family movie! I'm pretty sure I stumbled upon an abandoned meth lab the last time I was scouting around there. :x_x: I recommend staying away at all costs.

No fish. Nothing to see there, move along! :secret-laugh:

Pretty much everything XP590 said is correct , this little creek doesn't earn any style points . Honestly I can't tell you where to park and for sure not be doing something you shouldn't. I just take my chances and either park by the first bridge that crosses it when coming from 65 or in one of the gravel lots between businesses right there along the creek. I've only been run off once for parking somewhere I wasn't welcome......Jeff

Thanks Troutnut. I may give it a try the next time I'm down there...I could always use a new fridge.

If you hear banjos, run for it!

Branson and Hollister have really treated their creeks poorly. You can tell that the tourist's dollar does not touch the creeks. Unfortunately the condition of the creeks show the nature of the people that live in the two towns. I have lived there my whole life, and have seen to much development and deforestation. Since when did creek-side property call for a trailer park. Creeks and ecosystems are some the most sensitive environments. I would take creeks-side to lake-side everyday.

Where I fished today on Turkey is just gorgeous. Totally fishable. Just not a ton of fish.

Breathtaking scenery, creek gravel is clean - water crystal clear. Even found a new spot far far away from those old eyesores.

In fact, the only eyesore I found were some old piles of beer cans at a makeshift campsite.

I find Turkey as one of my favorite little unknown spots now. As of this past Tuesday anyways. THANKS Dennis.

EDIT - tell me this ain't good looking water :
