sms_alum Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Headed to Meramec Springs for a few hours on Sunday. It was a little cool when I first got there but the weather continously warmed up all day. The water is extremely clear and there were not many clouds in the sky so you could see fish everywhere. They were doing their typical winter schooling near the surface and it looks like they stocked it pretty well for the season. Did see a few nice fish along inside edges, but with these conditions they definately saw me first. Did catch a few dumb ones out of the schools though. If you are new to fly fishing or are introducing some one to the sport this a great time to take them to MS. It is usually not crowded and loaded with rainbows. Also, I take a walk below the park looking for some smallies but did not see much.
