Members MikeH Posted December 31, 2011 Members Posted December 31, 2011 I got to head down and enjoy the beautiful weather Thursday on the Current. My guides were actually freezing up in the morning but it got nice and warm. It was fairly crowded but a little leg work got me away from the crowds for the most part. I more or less Czech nymphed all day and this seemed like the way to go. Specific fly pattern didn't seem to matter as long as you were fishing it right on the bottom. I was hardly knocking them dead but I did manage a fish from all the likely spots. Oddly enough most of them were browns. The most eventful point in the day was when a jet boat came flying up the river. I don't think I've ever seen one anywhere near Baptist. It really seemed to churn up the river. The water got cloudy and the fishing pretty much dropped off. There were also some caddis hatching which you don't see much in December. Unfortunately I couldn't get any fish to come up to a dry. That's the short of it. As usual there's a more detailed report at the blog. Here's a link17/29 Report -Mike

Members MikeH Posted December 31, 2011 Author Members Posted December 31, 2011 I can't be 100% sure but I don't think it was anyone official.
Gene K Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I can't even imagine taking a jetboat up there [flying - fast] if it were mine. Just not enough water in too many places. But I supose there's always a clown who doesn't give a dung...
Nortrad Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Nice report on the blog, good way to go out of 2011.
awhuber Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Was it a Ranger or MDC? 15 HP max limit up there. I talked to the boater when he took out at parker. Just aregular joe. HP limit is 25. http://www.nps.gov/ozar/planyourvisit/horsepower.htm
Ill Trout Bum Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Was it a Ranger or MDC? 15 HP max limit up there. I was there Thursday afternoon and saw the jet boat as well. I hope the guy I saw wasn't a ranger as he was well on his way to working through his cooler full of beer. Fishing was pretty much ruined for an hour and a half after this genius muddied the water. Several people confronted him about this and replied he did this alot during the off season. I hope I never see him again there. Scott
