Bill Jr. Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I went down to my inlaws place this weekend to do some winter chain saw work and try to get some fishing time in. the WIND really shortened the fishing time. Quite a few boats out but I didn't have much luck finding a pattern. I caught a few on a jerk bait, jig, and spoon but mostly shorts. Mostly mid-creek on 45 degree banks. Went out from 1:00 - 3:00 and was able to end the year with a 20" LM that probably went around 4lb. I released it at the dock as i always hope they stay around and even made it a little more hospitible this weekend But the best catch is when my daughter wanted to go for a walk this morning along the shore. I brought a rod, hooked up on the first cast and she reeled in her first fish of the year. She loves to go fishing with dad and I couldn't be more proud of a up and coming fisherperson.
Members Flatlander Posted January 3, 2012 Members Posted January 3, 2012 Great memories! You can give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.
Members LarryS Posted January 3, 2012 Members Posted January 3, 2012 Great pic...love the smile.. What are the water temps?
Bill Jr. Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Larry, Thanks for the comment. The smile is worth it all! I wish i could help on the temps. With a rigged out boat from 1972 i'm lucky to keep it running! I rarely travel 3-4 miles from the dock so I'm getting fairly familiar with their hideouts with all the good info from this site. I would say they were in the 44-48 range don't have the electronics. I'm working with a battery powered sonar and no temp. guage but usually do just fine. Thanks again and looking forward to a lot more memories in 2012.
