Thom Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I was fishing Saturday at lookout island (12/30) where a guide with a client fishing off the island toward the walk in at Pointe Royale; any idea who that might be. I was impressed with his teaching skills, patience and philosophy about fishing and how to catch fish. From what I saw it worked. I'd be interested in booking an outing the next time I visit. Thanks for any help. Best bet: Go through Phil (Lilley's Landing)or River Run near the dam to get a guide and you cant go wrong. I have done both. there is another outfitter near the upper area (not from a reosort or dock) that I have used twice and was disapointed both times. I take my grandchildren out for one on one with guide to learn or if I dont want to pull the boat down. I can usually stumble along on my own if by myself and catch fish. Just tell the service what type of fishing method you are wanting to learn and call early and they can fix you up for a great trip. Well worth the money for first trip or learning the skills. If you want to go at night Leanord Keeley (Taneycomo nights.com is very good and will put you on fish or die trying. Thom Harvengt

Known him for years and highly recommend him. Rich Looten Springfield, Missouri "If people don't occasionally walk away from you shaking their heads, you're doing something wrong."- John Gierach
Thom Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Chuck Gries with Anglers & Archery is a great guide & a heck of a nice guy too. Known him for years and highly recommend him. Actually I meant anglers and archery as the guide service that I would recommend and I have had nothing but excellent advice and service from them. The other guide service that I didnt mention by name is at the upper end of the lake nuff said. Or mayby too much. What angered me about the guide I paid 300 dollars and a nice tip showed pretty a pretty bad attitude and actually threatened some waders because they were in HIS spot. Not the sportsmanship and traits that I want my grandson to see. Thanks for clearing that up for mew Lool0 Thom Harvengt
Addicted to Creeks Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 after seeing some of the fish the guys at aneycomo nights have out there i can't wait to try them out Fish always lose by being "got in and dressed." It is best to weigh them while they are in the water. The only really large one I ever caught got away with my leader when I first struck him. He weighed ten pounds. —Charles Dudley Warner
