Chris Gates Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Funny how the big ones are often in the frog water!
Members MattTucker Posted January 12, 2012 Members Posted January 12, 2012 Nice fish. Dig the coloring. Funny thing is on Saturday, Wise and myself both rowed our boats straight past through that hole. I still love that cabin and its CCC look to it. One of these days a formal introduction will be had, Mr. Spencer sir. The Ozark Chronicles The pursuit of Ozark trout on the fly.
Members MattTucker Posted January 12, 2012 Members Posted January 12, 2012 We had a great time down there last weekend. It already seems like forever since the trip. I can't wait to get back down there in March. We caught some nice rainbows from Kelly to Sunburst and hooked into and watched a giant rainbow starighten an egg hook and ride off into the sunset, but no monster browns like those beasts. Much props to you guys. Here are a few of the bows from Saturday and a smallie from Friday with Sloss on the 11 point. Ehammer, I did a double take when i saw the photo of the Hyde Highside. It is the same color combo and layout of the Hyde that i just traded in. It looks like there is quite the contingent of drift boat / skiff owners on the ozark streams lately, which is cool. Members ehammer Posted January 12, 2012 Members Posted January 12, 2012 Matt, That is Justin Spencer's Hyde. I'm not sure where he got the boat. Just borrowing Justin's boat has me sold on the drift boat platform. I'm hoping to actually find a headhunter skiff. I got a chance to row a guy named Sean's headhunter on Saturday and it was killer. Big thanks to Sean if he is on this board. Eric
Justin Spencer Posted January 12, 2012 Author Posted January 12, 2012 One of these days a formal introduction will be had, Mr. Spencer sir. That's for sure. Next time you are down, put in or take out here (you are always welcome to do so) and we'll tip back a beer together. Seems like you are one of the few driftboaters on this river that I don't really know. I feel like Wise is trying to keep us apart. Brian Wise Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Here are the pictures, turns out it was me not the forum's problem. I think it takes more skill to catch those little fish. And yes Brian, that is the fly Brandon took from your box the other day! GREAT fly!! I have seen big fish caught in that hole......AT NIGHT. Justin--me, you, and Brandon were rowing through that water when we floated! That is one of very, very few bigger fish I have see (besides smallmouth) that ate in a deep hole during the day. Very cool. My Youtube Channel

Wise gets like that some times, it is like he doesn't want to share me. That and well floating under that darn bridge still creeps me out. The Ozark Chronicles The pursuit of Ozark trout on the fly.

We hooked and managed to lose a really big fish out of that hole right under the tree thats trunk angles out over the river this fall but it was pouring rain and very cloudy. I would guess with sunlight you would need some pretty big flows and that green color to the water to sneak up on anything there it makes Bree's catch even more impressive mixed in with Justin's ninja rowing skills.

Eric Eric it was great to meet you guys this weekend. Good luck with the boat search if you decide to get one and feel free to pm me if you have any questions. Thats a great rainbow below Blair I was wondering if you guys would have enough daylight to finish your float.
