Boot Re-Felting

Does anybody know where I can get some boots re-felted. I know I can do it myself, but I haven't been pleased with the quality of felt that I can buy. I've got 2 pairs of identical boots, 1 is brand new and the other is a couple of years old, but in excellent shape except for the felt. I would have refelted the old pair, but the felt fell apart when I was in Alaska, and I didn't really have time. Plus, they are a slightly different size, so one pair will be my winter pair with an extra layer of socks. Let me know.

send it back to the manufacturer. or take it to a local fly shop and the should be able to do it for you, other than that, youll have to do it yourself.

You might try your local shoe repair shop. IF you have one. Tell them what you would like done to them and I bet they can do it. I might suggest having them glue then sew the felts on. It may cost a bit more but the felts tend to last a lot longer. You may have to furnish the felts to?

We use to glue outdoor carpeting to the bottms of our boots back when. Just give them a good coat of Barge Rubber Cement let it set up then another coat both on the boot bottoms and the felts. Then put the felts in place and wrap them up with cord up and done the boot. It lasted about 1 1/2 months of hard guiding. But that was before you could by good felt to. Ron

Just saw your post on this. There is a shoe cobbler in Centralia (don't recall the name but think it is the only one in town) that will do this and does a pretty nice job. He did mine several years ago. I don't recall what he charged but it was not all that bad as I recall.
