Members GregSTC Posted September 11, 2006 Members Posted September 11, 2006 Another great trip to Bennett Spring. The fishing in Zones #1 and #2 were pretty good in general. Not much of a crowd being it was the first weekend after Labor Day. The crowd is definitely older now that the kids are back in school. You don't need to rush out early to get a good spot to fish if you want to be there at the siren, 30 minutes is plenty of time and you don't need need to wade in more than a couple minutes early. Water level is about normal and CRYSTAL CLEAR! Zone 1 Flies Only Fished mostly around the first two handicap jetties. Nice fish and plenty of them. Spin fishing try a Ginger Marabou Jig with Gold head.(Thank you Weaver's). Good for the first hour after the siren. Fly Fishing I had a great time fishing with a Tungston Beadhead Midge From Reading's Fly Shop. brown in the sunlight and green in the shade. The midges worked all day! Stop by and talk to Charlie. Zone 2 Artificials Fished all over. The best was spin fishing at the siren with a black and gold jig with a gold head(Thanks again Weaver's) Fly fishing was so-so in zone two. limited success with Griffith's Gnats and Mosquitoes. Nymph fishing was a little better with #18 BHPT and Bead Head Copper John's. If you have a good crawdad pattern try it below the dam to under the stone bridge. The strikes are viscous! But I had a hard time setting the hook Zone 3 Natural Bait Who cares. Spin Fishing: FLUOROCARBON!!! 2 pound test our lighter. Fly Fishing: FLUOROCARBON TIPPET!!! 7X or 8X Saturday evening I cought a couple browns that were about 14 inches and fat. Greg Sorry 9/6 thru 9/10 Greg
