Members Tommy Neil Posted February 6, 2012 Members Posted February 6, 2012 My name is Tommy Davis and lived at Cassville Mo for ten years. At that time I was into bass fishing and really miss it but due to age and other things I have started to learn trout fishing. I moved to Neosho several years ago but Cassville is still home. Last year was the first at trout fishing and I enjoyed it. I'm ready to learn.
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Welcome! There are others on here from Neosho. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
BruteFish83 Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Good to have you on the forum. I'm an avid trout fisherman myself. You ever go to Roaring River? That's one MO trout stream that I'm itching to try. http://www.youtube.com/user/BruteFish83/videos
Members Tommy Neil Posted February 6, 2012 Author Members Posted February 6, 2012 As I said I'm learning. I did fish Roaring River a couple times last year and plan on fishing more there this year. I'm planning on a trip to Rockaway Beach this year. I have put a bass boat in at Rockaway beach many years ago fishing for bass and had good luck. I will fish from the bank where ever I fish. I'm also 72.
chambug Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 A hearty welcome aboard to you, Tommy. I'm glad to have another join me in the senior of seniors group on the Forum. You did not mention what type of fishing gear you trout dish with. I highly recommend the fly rod for trout....there's nothing like setting a hook in a trout lip with a fly rod. The resulting action is fantabulous! I too was an avid bass fisherman for over 40 years, but I revel in the day that I rediscovered trout fishing, due to my son, about six years ago. ( I fished for trout in my youth at the lakes and streams of New Mexico, but got away from it, regretfully ) If you haven't yet got into fly fishing....do it. Go to W_____t and get an inexpensive kit that includes rod, reel, floating line, and tippet (and maybe even a few flies.) Again, welcome aboard! chambug
Buzz Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Living in Neosho you'll have plenty of close trout water to learn trout fishing. Although C&R is just about over, you can still catch quite a few fish. I try to hit Hickory a couple times a month, usually on Sundays. I'll be flingin' flies. I'll keep an eye out for you. Welcome to the forum. Edit: Don't forget Academy for a decent fly rod. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
