Members Bamboozle Posted February 21, 2012 Members Posted February 21, 2012 Just a reminder to folks to try to leave a little $$ in Crane when you go. Hopefully this will help local folks appreciate what a special creek that they have and maybe take care of it. The Crane Cafe on Main Street is good for basic Burger and Fries fare. The Pizza Place on 413 on the North end of town has all kinds of food in addition to Pizza. This is the folks who used to have the place in Hurley and have now moved to Crane. Unfortunately in both cases you may end up sitting beside folks smoking. If you're a smoker: hurrah! If you're not a smoker just try to think of it as retro...
timsfly Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 you are right, I buy the biggest part of my gas and grocery items in Crane, of course just living 10 miles from Crane really helps, but crane is on the way to work so I do all the buisness in crane I can, they have a decent Chinese place there now and subway is always pretty good in Crane, but some of the cafes are worth stopping at, I stop and get biscuts and gravey every once in a while at the little cafe right in the middle of town, where are the flea markets are located, and my insurance agent is in crane, great little town full of good people. redbird Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 At first I though u meant dump the $$$ right in the creek. Im not a Cardinals fan, but I am a Cardinal. If you know me you know what that means.
drew03cmc Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I spend a little money every time I go down there, and normally walk through the shops looking for little trinkets. Andy
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 It's always good to know where to get something to eat and of course anything that makes fishermen the good guys never hurts. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Chief Grey Bear Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Hey Zeke, That station over by the high school has some killer corndogs! That is where we usally eat when in town. This may sound wrong, and I don't mean it that way, but, Subway, even though it may be locally owned, I am not sure, would be like eating at a Micky D's. The main money is leaving the community. Just a little food for thought. LOL! chub minnow Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Actually, I think all Subways are franchises, so most money (except franchise fees) would stay in town. Provided that the owner lives in town......
Members Bamboozle Posted July 12, 2012 Author Members Posted July 12, 2012 I eat at the Subway a fair amount and I'd say it counts for keeping it local. That said you should also try Spring Creek Pizza (much more than pizza) on 413 on the North side of town. Also the shop on main street -- across from the new library -- has amazing home-made pie and good sandwiches. It's not that Subway isn't keeping money local but you can't say its uniquely local like these other places.
Chief Grey Bear Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I was thinking that as I was typing Chub. I was also thinking that it also provides jobs too. I probably shouldn't have posted anything but was just tossing out my thought. I certainly mean no harm to Subway or its local employees.
