Moswimb8slinger Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Fished the Shadow Rock area of Swan and found small trout sipping bugs off the surface, then after dark i heard several large splashs. Couldn't what they were maybe carp, maybe large stripers chasing the small trout... anybody else seen large fish hitting the surface lately in the swan creek/shadow rock/ river run park area?
Members creekin bassnerd Posted February 29, 2012 Members Posted February 29, 2012 not in that area but not too far away I saw some huge carp jumping out of the water this weekend.
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 At times there can be a lot of carp and buffalo up there. I don't generally see trout there however. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
emjay Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Highly doubt the Stripers would be active enough to break surface yet. However, those carps seem to be found everywhere as of late.
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Yeah I had Swan on the brain. If you were up towards the pothole it was definately probably carp. I don't know that the stripers come up if there isn't a heavy flow? I'm no expert, but I was under the impression that they come to a heavy flow and deeper water. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Moswimb8slinger Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 there was a good flow out of Swan, thats why i thought to go over there because the dam wasnt generating. The flow was good enough that it would carry your lure about 30-45 degrees downstream from where the lure landed, with a medium-slow retrieve
