Members FlyfishinOK Posted March 5, 2012 Members Posted March 5, 2012 My kayaking plans got canceled yesterday because of the high winds. I decided to stop by the river to check the action below Zink dam. I took my Striper spinning gear because I didn't want to deal with the fly rod in all of the wind. When I came over the soccer field hump I was surprised to see a least 6 guys throwing flys from the center sand bar. I was curious to see if any of them were OzarkAnglers. I was throwing really big pencil poppers & Spooks in hopes of the big one. Didn't get the big one but did get a few channels busting on the poppers. Saw some sandies, channels and really small striper come to hand but no big stripers yet.
Members iflyfish70 Posted March 6, 2012 Members Posted March 6, 2012 I fished the pso hole sunday night from 8:00 to about 9:00 pm . Not much luck there, only one small stripe . From 9 to 10 I moved to the spillway gates and started catching big female sandies 2-4 lbs. Hooked 1 big striper but lost it pretty quick . It ran downriver and rolled a few times before the hook pulled free . All I got was a scale . Going to try again on Tuesday night from 7:30 to 10 at night . Water should be right if they follow the schedule . "bonafied fish slayer"
Members FlyfishinOK Posted March 6, 2012 Author Members Posted March 6, 2012 I just missed you because I left around 7:30 pm from the soccer field. When I left there were a few guys right at the soccer field snagging for anything they could get. They had been there all day and only had a sandy and a channel cat on their stringer. They tried to tell me that they changed the regs on snagging above I-44 bridge. I told them that I hadn't heard that info. After looking today I see they must be confused because it clearly states no snagging between Keystone dam and 44 bridge. They would get pissed when the fly guys would catch a fish and release it...lol.
Members FlyfishinOK Posted April 12, 2012 Author Members Posted April 12, 2012 Nobody is posting about Striper....that usually means the bite is on!!!! Guess I'll have to go and check it out???
