The generation pattern has been great this past week. The Southwestern Power Administration and the Corps of Engineers has been sticking close to the projected schedule the put out for each day. There has been one to two generators running in the morning until about noon and the completely off until about six or seven in the evening. This has given everyone a chance to fish the water they like, on or off.

I had a chance to do some night fishing Monday night. It was warm, calm, no generation, and the moon was full. Not the best conditions for night fishing. I took a friend, Elliot, who is from the UK for his first time night fishing on Taneycomo. We both fished small streamers, mainly wooly buggers, and caught a few fish. The fly he was using was similar to a white and chartreuse wooly but he called it a cat’s whisker. I was using just a plain ole’ black wooly bugger that had a little flash in it. On his first cast he caught his first Crappie. Although the fishing was a little tough it was a beautiful night.

The next day, a very windy day, I went out with my Dad just above outlet two. I got out fished. He was catching them pretty steady and by the time I had finally got one in he already had about five or six. We were both using a Miracle Fly to begin with and then I switched to a #16 Rusty Midge. I did well on both flies but mostly small fish on the midge.
