Members Jason S Posted March 8, 2012 Members Posted March 8, 2012 I'm thinking about going this weekend. As long as they keep a nice low water gap during the day like they have been, and the radar doesn't look TOO colorful, I think I might try to get over there this Saturday. What do you guys think? Worth it? Is the rain going to totally screw things up? Thanks, Jason
Members Jason S Posted March 9, 2012 Author Members Posted March 9, 2012 Well, now it looks like it might hold off until late Saturday so I think I will head up? What is everyone thinking about flies? Try the same old stuff? HE, scuds, midges? -Jason
DaddyO Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Same old stuff should work. I've actually had more success when the weather is slightly overcast. I hit Taney, Norfork and the White River last weekend. I've go too many honey-do's to do this weekend or I'd be there too. Oh, if you get bored with the same old stuff, start trying things like stripping wooly buggers, leeches, soft hackles and HE. The tug that you feel, while doing that, is addictive. Members Jason S Posted March 9, 2012 Author Members Posted March 9, 2012 Dang DaddyO! One of these days we ARE going to meet up. Just have to wait for the stars to align apperently. I seem to always have better luck when its overcast as well so I am hoping for that, but I also hope for a nice big gap of time with no water fallin from above. Fingers crossed. -Jason
On The Fly 6 Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Im considering a trip as well. Trying to convince my dad to go too, but I'll just have to wait and see if I'll be going solo. On The Fly 6 Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I should be in a blue xterra with AR tags. It'll be my dad and I. On The Fly 6 Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 How did you guys fair? My dad caught a fish before me ..again, but only brought one to net the whole afternoon. I caught 5 above the kiddie pool and 5 more on the backside of the island. The ones behind the island I caught on a light grey soft hackle that I was swinging in the current. That was probably the most fun id had fishing the LIR in a long time. Seeing my dad catch a fish on a fly rod, and watching the trout hammer my soft hackle made for a good day with great weather.
