Members brian g Posted March 20, 2012 Members Posted March 20, 2012 3 of us fished Friday up the big sac. The blacks were on fire. We caught over 70 fish. Biggest was 7 lbs. One 3.5, then about 12 2 lbs. Caught them in 4-12 ft. of water on points and bluff walls with ledges. Jigs, jerks, wiggle warts and shakey heads, basically everything but the a rig and spinnerbaits. Saturday fished sons creek. Not as good but picked them up with the same pattern. Caught around 30 blacks with 9 keepers all around 2-3 lbs. Had a great time fishing with longtime friends and the weather was great. Even broke out in sweat.
Members brian g Posted March 20, 2012 Author Members Posted March 20, 2012 It was a great trip. So good I forgot about one bad thing that happened. Was fishing at end of bluff wall catching blacks about every other cast. Had 3 guys in mint/green colored ranger watching us. Then they fished right though us and the bank we were casting at. They caught fish and cut us off !!! I know this a public lake, but that is very disrespectful and not very sportsman like. I couldnt believe 3 grown men would act like that. They knew what they were doing because they didn't look at us or exchange pleasentries. I held my tongue. My father taught my to respect my elders. We got over it after cursing under our breathes and got back to enjoying fishing.
Walcrabass Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Brian G, I hate to say it but it is a more and more common thing for this to happen, Like I have said before we need some kind of legislation to bring this to a halt. Most of these people are just "low life types" that believe that as long as they can get by with it then it is O.K. and maybe even kind of funny. I have had it happen twice in the last few years. Once at the point of Birch Branch and once way back in Birch Branch. Just like you said, "Throwing to the bank and the guy went right in front of me WHILE I WAS CATCHING FISH, CUT ME OFF, CAUGHT SOME HIMSELF WITH HIS BACK TO ME, AND THEN WENT ON ABOUT HIS BUSINESS!!!!!! The other instance I was Crappie fishing and fishing out from the bank about 60 yards in a Cedar tree. A guy fishing about 80 yards from me ON THE BANK FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION hollered at me to let me know I was in his spot and I wasn't honoring the code of ethics. It was all I could do to keep the 21 year old males in my boat from swimming over to jerk him out of the boat. Since I figured the man was drunk or inept I simply said to him " Oh, I guess I didn't realize you were coming all the way over here to fish, we'll just leave." Always remember " There is some kind of nut waiting for you around every corner!! Thanks for not pounding the guy like he truly deserved!!!!!
Members charliehorsejigs Posted March 21, 2012 Members Posted March 21, 2012 Reminds me of a time on Grand Lake when i was just a kid. My dad and I were drift fishing for catfish out in the main channel. There must have been a hundred yards of open water on either side of us. Well, a guy who always acted like he owned the whole lake came by really close to us full throttle. Almost capsized us. We were not the first people he had done this to. Dad said we would catch up to him later. The next week we were headed down the lake and we saw him tied up to the bank, crappie fishing. Our boat we had could throw an awfully big wake at just the right speed and dad knew this very well. Suffice it to say that guys boat had a lot more dings and scratches in it after we went by. He looked up and saw who did it to him, didn't say a word, and was courteous to others on the lake after that. Some people just need a wake up call.
SmallyWally Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Had a situation at the dan one evening. We are the ONLY boat along the whole thing mind you and we watch this boat come across the lake getting closer and closer and then right at us. We were fishing around the old channel and I guess that was these fellas special spot and they rolled up on us not more than 25 yards and at times less and start fishing right by us. And this has been mentioned in almost every story I have heard about situations like this before, No eye contact at all. Now my dad has been boiling since this all happened, so he asks "Are you ready to go" He started the boat told me to hang on and we went straight at these guys and then precedes to drive our boat around theirs twice within 10 yards and those guys just stared at us as we went around and around them and then took off. My dad did feel bad after doing what he did, I didn't though. These are people who are just plain selfish and really have no regards to manners or any etiquitte and that will probably never change in these people. It is really a shame that people have gotten this low, with a WHOLE lake to fish that they would do the things that they do. Plenty of those stories to go around. We have learned to grin and bear it anymore. Kindness is the language the blind can see and the deaf can hear.-- Mark Twain
Members fishingherb Posted March 23, 2012 Members Posted March 23, 2012 This is typical in today's times after all look at the pros they do the same thing. After all if the pros do it then everything is OK. If you are to busy to go fishing, your to busy !!!!
