RSBreth Posted April 21, 2012 Author Posted April 21, 2012 There's plenty of water on the upper parts of rivers here in the Ozarks that most people would think of "marginal" - but really hold some good fish . The upper Finley is like that - you won't catch many big fish, but there's more Smallie's up to about two pounds than most people would think. Like you already mentioned, and it can't be stressed enough to let them go when you do catch them. And watch for people who are keeping them - smaller waters can't take much catch and keep fishing - the more good people who are conservation minded out there watching and spreading the word is better than all the regulations in the world.
Members t417ad Posted April 22, 2012 Members Posted April 22, 2012 I caught some at the finley at some bridge in ozark pretty cool little spot might go there tomorow.. plan on deff doing some all day fishing . A fish is a fish Clean up trash
OzarksRiverman Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Fished the upper Finley yet again yesterday evening about 5-7pm, The water was very clear and kind of low (but not extremely low). Fish were hitting almost anything that moved. I caught several LM, SM, no goggle eye. Most fish on orange/black beetle spin and green bitsy tubes. One real fat 15" LM--wish I would've taken a picture, but I've been a little gunshy on that lately since the last time I tried it last summer I dropped my brand new phone in the creek! oh well!
Daveinozark Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 where is it that you are parking? is it a long paddle to get there?
OzarksRiverman Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I just wade fish. I park at the slabs and walk up or downstream.
Daveinozark Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 would you care to PM me with any parking spots other than Olga? I'm looking for wading spots too, since I only have an inflatable to use. anyplace closer to Linden?
Jack Jones Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I'd be interested in those parking spots too. I've never got on that water anywhere other than the city park in Ozark. Sure would love to try it. Daveinozark Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 thanks, and no worries, I don't keep anything I catch. Too much of a pain being so far from home won't get me out there much either
Members AmericanAngler Posted May 21, 2012 Members Posted May 21, 2012 A spot closer to Linden is KK bridge. take U East to KK stay on KK till you get to the Bridge. There is some good deep water and shoals with bass and some cats and perch. There is also a submerged slab bridge that is pretty good when the fish are shallow. "Let me fish or else"
OzarksRiverman Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I fished downstream from the KK bridge this evening. I caught fish on just about every cast. I brought to hand a 18 & 1/4" smallie, I believe it to be the biggest fish I've caught out of the upper Finley. Released, and he still swims till this day. I don't know if it's the mild winter or what, but the fish are going off in the upper reaches of these creeks. Cheers
