Went down Sunday morning, got there about 15 minutes later than I would have liked.(about 6:50). By the time I got on my rock and got all my stuff straight, it was about 7:00. Water is up and the rocks on the ledge on the gate side are just above water and you have to wade to get to them. Fish hitting topwater. Quite a few good sized whites caught while I was there, most on topwater. I saw green spooks, green hog sticks and other topwaters being thrown, the chartreause seemed to be the best color, although I caught as many or more whites on a silver and black vixen walk the dog bait. I only saw two hybrids caught and they were 3 lbs or less. Alot of crappie being caught right on the point on the gate side. Saw once nice stringer come out of there, and watched several other guys catching them right and left on whte and chart. slider type bait, probably a 3 inch on 1/4 ounce jig head. They were not running much water. I think if I had been there when you could first see, I would have caught alot more fish (along with not back lashing my Abu Record Cast over and over again). They do not have the buoy line up, which is a plus. Water was stained. After the topwater bite shut off, I threw everything I had and did not catch another fish (spoons, jigs, etc). Saw very few fish caught after the first hour to 1/5 hours. I left about 10:00 and went over to the turbine side, and watched for a while. Nobody catching anything and no stringers in the water.

Thanks Drbucketmouth, I do my best. I am hoping this thread will be more active because it sure is nice to have some prior knowledge before you head down. I really expected the wiper bite to be on given the water temps. I am going down again this weekend and plan on putting the candy out there (live shad). Normally, the wiper bite turns on at the end of April- early May. But the water temperatures are already above the 57-60 you normally see then, so I think it could happen any time. Tight lines.
