I use two colors with my jigs..Pink and Red. I use pink in darker water or overcast conditions and Pink when the sun comes out. It just has always worked for me.. I am from the South and fishing in Alabama and Georgia, It's all I used. Since I have been here I fished mostly Table Rock and use the Pink more than anything. I have caught numerous crappie but I am kinda spoiled ( being from the South ) and have caught bigger crappie there. My favorite grub colors on "the rock" are white/pearl sliders and Acid rain triple tails....

I would like to know what your opinions are about how important jig head color is (chart, white, pink, yellow) in relation to crappie fishing. Does jig head color make that much difference on catch rate or would a person catch as many on plain old lead heads. Again I know it is everyones opinion but would love to hear the feed back as well as a tried and true favorite color if you have one.

In the past 20 years I have used unpainted heads and every color in the rainbow for the soft body and do relatively well in stained waters of LOZ and Truman , My last recent trip to the Rock has me wondering as I did not do so hot.

I know. It makes you wonder. About the time I have made up my mind one way or the other on favorite color, or convinced that color is not as important I will have one of those days where it is real slow and I loose a jighead and tie somthing else on and BAM! It seems to turn on. Who knows if it just coincidental or not. I dont have the many years of experiance some of you guys do and all of your input has been a huge help.

A couple weeks ago, I was crappie fishing muddy water, mainly using live minnows under a cork with moderate success. While the wind was blowing I caught a few on a pink n chart bobby garland jig. The wind died down and the jig bite kind of dropped off and started getting more hits on the live minnows, but those bites were too far between. I increased my catch dramatically when I started hooking a live minnow on a 1/32oz pink jighead and tipping the hook with a chartruese crappie nibble. Having a live minnow in the calm water gave me the live movement needed that the jig couldnt, while the pink jig head and chart nibble allowed the fish to see my bait easier. As the water clears, I think jighead color becomes less important. Thats what I think anyway.
