Members Dale Hartigan Posted April 19, 2012 Members Posted April 19, 2012 Hi everyone. I went fishing yesterday around 11am on the James south of Delaware and caught several small mouth and 2 large mouth bass. I took out my fishing raft and floated down to Shelvin Rock. I caught all my fish on a watermelon plastic worm. I passed by that Blue Hole and was wondering if thats a good fishing spot?
RSBreth Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 I usually catch bigger fish further downstream versus in that area - but there's still plenty of fish up there. You also might try faster lures (crankbaits, spinnerbaits, soft jerkbaits) and see if that gets you more and bigger fish next time - works for me.
Daveinozark Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 my experiences with that blue hole area is there are a lot of gar there. I've caught small large mouths and rock bass there but nothing decent. if nothing else, it's a nice spot to get out and work the current. I've only been there in the summer though
