Brian Wise Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 I made it over to back country, bought 100 some odd hooks. Tied a boogie man and ran out of wool, and two sex dungeons and ran out of eyes. This is getting a bit ridiculous. On the note of Schmidt'svpatters, any plans to do a video for the mufasa, that thing is real fishy looking, and doesn't look hard. I completely agree.....I have 2 Meatlockers completely full and then a box that is twice as big as a Meatlocker--and it is completely full too. It's an addiction. The Mufasa is on the list FOR SURE. Right now I plan on doing the Double Deceiver (already done just need to add a little bit to it), Mufasa, Meal Ticket, Stinky Mayo, Voodoo Squatch, and maybe the Red Rocket. Dang! Missed the 'opening day' for the vid...it's all good. Going to try some of these in olive, dark brown, black, tan, yeah boy...the mallard really makes it suspend a little in the water. Nice video again...same story, gotta tie some nymphs up, oops, streamer addiction... EXACTLY, in my eyes if it weren't for the Mallard causing it to "hang" just a touch in the water I wouldn't be too excited about this fly....but then again, it is just so mean looking!! Justin Spencer Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 We know that Double deciever is only for huge fish, or maybe small Spotted Bass if you know how to wiggle it right. Some people catch target fish on them while others challenge themselves by catching fish smaller than the fly. I tend to have a knack for only catching fish smaller than the fly in an attempt to go hero or zero. That secret was TOTALLY safe with me......but since you mentioned that I think we have that on video don't we? HUGE Double Deceiver in the mouth of a small spotted bass. My Youtube Channel

Anyone can catch big fish on big fliies, it takes skill to make it look wounded enough for a small fish to eat it (when you got it you got it). humbly yours Justin "The problem with a politician’s quote on Facebook is you don’t know whether or not they really said it." –Abraham Lincoln Tales of an Ozark Campground Proprietor Dead Drift Fly Shop
Lancer09 Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 I don't think the mallard just makes it hang, i think the mallard on the top gives it a little side to side wiggle. For the boogie man, try trimming the wool more like the fat head than the dungeon and it hangs even more, plus it doesn't roll side to side as much, atleast for me. And you can't go wrong with adding some more legs to the thing. are the meat lockers a good box? what about the bugger barns. I'm also looking at the medium latch box from BPS.. Because I have a gift card. I'm excited for the red rocket too! I got a couple in a swap a few months ago and that thing is sick as can be, and the mufasa looks awesome. These videos are top notch man.
Brian Wise Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 I am still not a huge fan of flies that "jig", but that is the drift boat guide in me I am sure. Don't get me wrong, they absolutely catch fish but they only move in 2 directions (up and down). Now, wading is a totally different story and I would probably use a "jigging" fly a lot more than an unweighted (or neutral) fly just to get it deep. The Boogie Man still jigs a little too much for me, but it 'does' have that extra movement like you said Lancer09. Totally agreed with the legs, and when I tie them more for my fishing it will have legs, it is kind of weird to have a Galloup fly without Sili-Legs. Appreciate the kind words. My Youtube Channel
