podum Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 For those without a boat, now is your time for kansas city crappie. The spawn at Smithville is full on now and fishing will probably be good for a couple of weeks. The lake is low so you can park near any of the bridges and walk the bank looking for spawning pockets. Fished at Crows Creek and the Hwy W bridge today. Lots of fish. Several in the pound + class. Caught all of them on a 1/16 oz jig with a white or white and chartreuse tube. I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
KCRIVERRAT Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Thanks for the report. I was last up there on 4/1 and nothing was happening that day. Caught just four with only one being a keeper. HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
podum Posted April 22, 2012 Author Posted April 22, 2012 Fished 1.5 hours this afternoon. 30+ fish, 15+ keepers but only one female (full of eggs). Lots of big males. Next week is gonna be the time. I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
Members Ozarks Ridgerunner Posted April 29, 2012 Members Posted April 29, 2012 I fished Paradise bridge cove last week and limited out on mostly females oozing eggs. They were all concentrated withing 10 feet of the bank in 5ft or less of water. Went back Tuesday and limited out again in less than 2 hours.
