Has anyone ever used Bottome Bouncers for Walley below power site? Ever use em from the bank?

Seperate from that...If you have used them (which I have not), could you make recommendations on harness choice and so forth? I am very curious about this set up as I have recently heard it is pretty successful.

Store bought harnesses are expensive and you will lose them if you use them. Make your own harnesses. There are you tube videos and long articles on the internet and check out walleye central - the second best board around. I store mine wound around a section of pool noodle.

They are definitely NOT made to be used from the bank. When pulling bouncers you can use a basic formula of 1 ounce for every 10 foot deep fished. But you also have to figure in speed at which your pulling them. .75 to 1.0 MPH is about standard speed. This is a BASIC formula. I have at times fished 1 1/2 bouncers down to 25 feet or so in light wind. I like the feel of lighter bouncers than heavier ones. I will go with letting more line out over using a heavier bouncer. You want to basically try to keep the bouncer at a 45 degree angle below the boat

When you have two guys fishing in a boat it is generally best to have the front guy use a heavier bouncer than the rear guy. It keeps the line angles seperated enough to avoid tangles.

As far as harnesses, generally all I fish is Northland crawler harnesses. I do have some home tied ones however, my confidence is in the Northlands.

As far as fishing them below powersite I have not fished crawler harnesses but I fished chubs on a 4 or 5 foot lead behind the bouncers. It works very well.

Hey guys, this is a pretty good place to learn how to tie your own harnesses. Illustrations are pretty good and even I figured it out about 9 or 10 yrs ago, when I first got "walleyeitis" real bad. I have to give credit to Powerdive for sending me that link back in '02 or '03 .....

They ARE way cheaper if you tie your own, but Rangerman is correct, the Northland harnesses are great. I always keep some store bought's in the boat in case I run out of the home-tied ones. Around our lakes I've found that MOST of the time, if you have some 1 1/2 OZ bouncers and some 2 OZ bouncers, you'll have what you need. Not to say that there might be a time when you want a lighter or heavier one.

So click the link at the top of this post and give it a whirl !
