Members Dale Hartigan Posted May 23, 2012 Members Posted May 23, 2012 Has anyone ever floated the James north of Delaware Town? I was going to check out where Wilson Creek and the James meet. I plan on fishing there tomorrow and I'm probably going to float on down to Delaware. Is it safe and is it floatable? Thanks
Stoneroller Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?site_no=07052250 looks like the river is at an 18 year low. Fish On Kayak Adventures, LLC. Supreme Commander 'The Dude' of Kayak fishing www.fishonkayakadventures.com fishonkayakadventures@yahoo.com
RSBreth Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Definitely "safe" but low like the data shows. You might have to drag a few riffles.
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Wilson was said to have some E-coli problems, so be careful. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members Osage Posted May 23, 2012 Members Posted May 23, 2012 You could put in at the south east corner of the battlegrounds. That's about 1/2 mile above where it runs into James. Going south on ZZ that's the first road to the left (east) after Terril creek. I haven't ran a boat up there in years but it seems like the mouth of Wilson is a 1 1/2 or so miles above Delaware Town.
