Members Jack Hollister Posted May 23, 2012 Members Posted May 23, 2012 Good afternoon everyone. I’m going to Mark Twain to do a little cat fishing this weekend with the kids and was wanting to get into some cats!!!! Typically in the past, I have had good luck using raw shrimp. This time I bought a jar of Hog Wild dip bait. Thought I would throw both. Have any of you used Hog Wild? Are there any other baits that you prefer? It would be nice to get a couple keepers for a fish fry. Also, is there anyone familiar with Mark Twain that would like to share where there is a nice place to bank fish? I really appreciate all the information that everyone shares on this site. Thanks!! Jack
Stoneroller Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 as little rain as we've had you can probably walk around the entire shoreline of the lake. They've had a bit more up around the lake but I really doubt it's a full pool, it rarely is unless its a flood year. I'm partial to catfish charlie dip bait, but frankly I don't think it really matters. I've never put two different dip baits in the water side by side to see which caught more fish. you might want to check with your local grocery stores/fishmonger to see if they have any bad skrimps they are going to throw out. Members Jack Hollister Posted May 24, 2012 Author Members Posted May 24, 2012 Thanks Stoneroller!! I have never tried Catfish Charlie before. Ive seen it, but never bought it. When I was a teen, I use to use Bee Jay...not sure if that is still around or not anymore. Your right about the water level.....it probably is low. Compared to last year, this has been a dry spring. Thanks again.
MoSportsmen Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 The campground at Mark Twain SP out on the west end of the lake has trails from the camp ground that lead to the north shore of the point. Might be worth the walk. There is also a lot of shorline to the south and west of the camp grounds that might be worth trying. Good luck. Send in a report after you get home.
