OzarkFishman Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Took the yak for a few hours while the boys were napping at home with mom. Glad I did, the first cast resulted in the fish you see below. I spent the next 45 minutes catching 11 more bass (one being a smallmouth), 4 turtles (got good at the paddle release) and one 2' gar (luckily it flipped the plastic when it got ariborne). After that, I spent an hour trying to find a different pattern ... no luck. What a great way to spend nap time!!!
Jack Jones Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 DId you just kayak down a bit and then paddle back up? That gar must have been something to see. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
OzarkFishman Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 Thanks evnrude. Yes, I just paddle by the dam and down and then paddle back up. The gar had me excited that I had an even bigger bass ... then again, it was exciting enough to see a gar get airborne. I was actually happy it flipped my lure. I don't mind dealing with them in a boat or on shore, but a yak is a different story (not enough room for error).
