Hey y'all I'm going on a 2 day float from Hootentown to Blunk Rd. in Galena and was wondering if I can camp anywhere on the river or can I even camp at all on the river. This is my first overnight trip so just wondering and how's the fishing on this stretch. I floated Hootentown to JRO last year in one day and didn't have to much time for fishing so this year I'm taking my time. Thanks.

Plenty of gravel bars to camp on with the river as low as it is right now. Hootentown to Galena is 22 miles, a nice two day float.

I wouldn't leave a vehicle at Blunk's overnight un-attended though. Better offf leaving it at JROs.

X2 The little bit of extra distance wouldn't be worth the worry. Cox, would be better, but not much, if you want to save a few bucks..

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Just got back from my trip and it was awesome except for having these big and loud fly/bee things diving at my head for about 2 hours last night. Those things were annoying. Anyone know what they could be? Don't think they were bees because I was never stung and they showed up at dusk. Besides that, fishing was incredible. Caught tons of smallmouth and a few largemouth. All fish returned to there home so y'all can catch too. Saw a bunch of spoonbill too, I've never seen one before so it was pretty cool.
