Members Hellac Posted June 4, 2012 Members Posted June 4, 2012 I fished on the #16 flats on the Hot Spot Map Sat & Sun with no luck at all, not even a bite. But I saw 4-5 other boats in the same area jigging, and bringing in fish from time to time. Anyone know of a good way to fish that spot. I tried everything, but I am new to this. Looks like they were just drifting across the flats and jigging, didnt see anyone trolling there. Thx
Bird Watcher Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 you got it. find a good wind and troll a contour. that bite should be getting good right now. They usually move out there as the surface temps rise. Look in 20-35 fow water and drift a contour with your gps if you have one. If you don't have one, use your lake map and depth finder. bottom bouncers and pony heads with a half night crawler have always worked best for me. there's about 4-6troughs or ditches that come up on that flat and i've always had my best luck somewhere around the head or top of those ditches. try to keep your speed down below 2 mph if you have a way of measuring that. If you don't, try to stay slow enough that you can drop your rod tip and contact bottom.
