Jdecoudres Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Can I get some help.on what I'm doing wrong I'm fairly new to this. The pics below.are my second attempt
Nortrad Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 Both front/rear hooks need schlappen palmered along the shank. Not the original recipe, but fills out the fly nicely. Your fly is a solid early attempt. Study some pictures of variations. I palmer along the shank, and put marabou wing on top, like a Peanut Envy w/o the cone head. It makes a bigger profile. Go to Kelly G.'s site. Keep working at it, it will come.
Brian Wise Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 For as long of a shank as you are using I would you a longer, webbier Schlappen feather for starters. Great job though! My Youtube Channel
Lancer09 Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 I on the other hand do not prefer to palmer the schlappen along the shank. I like to do it just at the front like that but if you do this it needs to be a big webby one to flow back. Also, I would find a body material, that takes up a bit more space, I really like UV dyed polar chenillie or some sort of cactus chenille.
