K I was wanting to see how others rig there plastic up. like what size sinker for what size plastic. Is it better to run a bigger sinker on a 8in worn and bigger on a 10in worm etc? and what size would be the best for the set. Thank justin

When texas rigging, i usually match up my weight to the water depth I am casting to. If I am casting onto the banks or in otherwise shallow water I will use a 5/16oz. If i am fishing deep then i may go up to 1/2oz. I rarely change my weight based on the size of the plastic.

As far as hooks, i think it is all a matter if personal

preference. I use probably the cheapest hooks you can buy, the Eagle Claw tru-turns. I don't lose many fish on them either. Usually size 2/0 or 3/0.

When worm/plastic fishing...I use the lightest weight that alows me to stay in contact with the structure that I'm fishing...

With the Stockton winds , I useualy have to use a slightly heav'er weight to feel the structure..

Hooks = type is a personal preference but, size should be matched to the size of the lure..

I.E. don't use a 4/0 hook with a 4" bait... I carry 1/0 thru 5/0 hooks and use plastic from 4" to 12"...

I rarely use any weight at all, but I rarely fish over 8' deep. Those Pink worms work great that way...never caught anything big, but the numbers are usually there...

A strike indicator is just a bobber...

Great points. and as gobbler mentioned matching weight to depth by way of using only the amount of weight you need to stay in contact is the best guide.

Also, you don't need an EWG hook with a worm either. you'll get better hookups with a straight shank/offset hook. as a rule I want my hook gap to be twice the width of the soft plastic i'm using.

Gamakatsu and only red, I have not thrown a hook that is not red on any bait this year. I think the red hooks are a big help.

I love fishing with the red hook but hate the price of them. and on some colors I liked to urs they red or black sinker. but that's when I was fishing table rock with my father.
