I use them all the time and actually everything you wrote you can do. I personally beak it down to 3 ways

3/8 oz--0 to 5 fow, 1/2 oz-- 0 to 15 fow, 3/4 oz --0 to 20 + . this is just a basic guide line, a good friend uses

1/2 oz for everything. Color is really personal preference. the most 2 popular colors are Green Pumpkin and

Black and Blue flake. I generally match the trailer and for me I always use the critter craw by Berkley. You can

use this year around because it always produces but more people generally use it in the spriing and summer

Pros like Denny Brauer had made a very good living using the the JIG. I could go on for hours talking about

using this. Maybe I can come to the event in July give you more info

Yea we all would love it if you could come out. I spent about 1 hr to day on google watching video. I picked up some real good things to do. It seens you can fish it many ways. about two weeks ago I picked up 3 diff ones from fine and feather. I asked the guy to pic a few out for me that was best for Stockton and he pick out green pumpin and I think it was PJ and water mellon?.? not sure and I think the other one was brown surer. not really sure. Then I stop at the outdoor store across the street from bass pro and pick out a 2 or 3 diff cheap ones. one was blue and black not sure what the others was. But can I fish them off a 6"6 rod? I no they said on the vidoes to use a 7"4 with a fast reel? and they said to uses a line that started with a f. cant remember. What it was. But thanks for the info you have gaven me Thanks Justin

Justin, I haven't used football jigs a lot, but i have used them and caught fish with them. I know you

Can use them on a 6'6" rod because I did. I have a few different ones, and i will change the skirts on them to a more preferred color

When necessary. That way I don't have to buy a whole lot of different ones.

Justin I use them all year on 6'6" rods as far as color use what you have confidence in. Trailers I like twin tails.

Saturday that's what I caught most my bass on.

If u fish deeper I would use nothing less than 7ft of rod. When you are setting the hook on a fish in 30 ft of water using a 3/4oz FB jig you need to be able to drive that hook home. I use a 7'6 rod and 15-17 lb 100% fluoro. for all my deep water football jigs.

Alot of people ask question about what reel and rod to use, there's alot of pro and cons on this. I have tried 6' to 7'8" and settled on 7' rod

and the reels I personlly like 6.4 to 1 but some prefer 7 to 1 especially in shallow like Flippin. On the rods it really depends on your height and

how you set the hook. Like Ryan said if your fishing deep or even shallow for that matter, a longer rod helps in setting the hook.Generally you'll

want a heavy action rod ,you don 't want to have alot of give in your rod otherwise you will have a bad or poor hook set.If your just starting out

don't go out and spend alot of money on a rod and reel unless you got alot of money.take your time on fish with this lure you can catch some of the biggest bass of your life with jig and frog.
