timsfly Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Closed the shop a bit early today only 2hrs early and went down and fished. The fish are running a bit on the small side but the amount of fish make up for the size I guess, I fished my little fiberglass 2wt scott and had a blast, caught fish on #22 egg patterns (apricot, and oregon cheese), and small #20 brassies. it was good fishing, I caught maybe 12 fish in a couple of hrs. and had that many more hooked, it was real good sight fishing. I did try a small griffiths gnat and had few come up and look but none took. Used 7X frog hair fluorocarbon and a 9' leader, tried 6X once after I broke all my 7X off once and the action slowed down a bit, put 7X back on and the fishing got a lot better real quick. Water is very clear and the springs output is about 4 million gallons per day right now, that is info from the hatchery as of friday. I did have 2 fish over 5lbs come thru the shop today, both fish came out of zone 2, one on a bugger the other on a 1/100th thread jig (white) Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
