How has the bite been in general? Been thinking of making the trip down and fishing for 3-4 days? Probably staying in the Pontiac area. Been thinking of getting setup to pull some leadcore and pull some spinnerbaits.

To be quite honest, it is a little slow right now. Bass are biting like crazy, so much I can't keep them off the hook for a walleye to bite. The walleyes are showing up from 25 to 30 FOW.

The walleye bite has been slow in the early morning and picking up mid morning and though the day. Jigging spoons have been working most days on point drop offs and around brush piles. Best bite for me has still been the bottom bouncer with a slow death / spinner and a pinched off night crawler. Yesterday about 21'-28' was the depth with several good sized keepers caught on a dead sticked rod running about 15'-20' down over deeper water out from the points in the middle of the coves. The water is getting pretty clear now so you might want to extend your leaders out to about 5' and drop down to lighter fluorocarbon for your leaders.

Agree Mike, always hope you are doing well. I dropped down to 8# leader, added a little more flash, and are speeding along at about .5 mph....

The fatter the crawler the better, I bring in flats from Minnesota.

Fishing alittle upstream (bee to bear), ive been using alittle bigger blades, 6 colorado and willows with fair success, usually gold or something with purple dragging a crawler 20-25'. Im also using the tadpoles by offshore tackle to drag size 5 flicker shad, those are awesome if you havent tried them, alot easier to use than lead i think.

I haven't made the switch over to tadpoles, may try them however. Leadcore is not the most easiest to work with, especially difficult when you snag a surprise tree or rock pile. Mattie, which tadpole do you use, #1 or #2, and how true is their depth chart?

I use both and they do run true, I've used them from Bull to Erie and have really enjoyed them, I use dipys as well but I just think there alittle more stupid proof and less moving parts to break.
