woodman Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Do I need to be a lawyer to make sense of this or am I crazy.....This is pertaining to 4 lakes... Boat permit (all County lakes) = $24 County residents Boat permit (Lake Jacomo) = $42 Non-residents Boat Permit (Longview/Blue Springs only) = $24 And to top it off their is designated areas to walk down to the waters edge and launch a kayak..subject to a $113. fine if not in a designated area...Pretty kayak friendly county..Ha.. http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
MoSportsmen Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 I would double check. Maybe call someone. This may be only for motorized boats. My former home lake in Kirksville had a graduated scale according to horse power with paddle craft being the cheepest. Probably not in this case though. Something is screwy though. Why would it be cheeper to get a permit for all lakes than it would be to get one for one? I would dig a little deeper. Knowing you have more than one boat I surly would try to get by with one permit and figure out a way to swap it on all my boats.....but that is just me. Messing about in boats
woodman Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 About 6 weeks ago I had a couple of boats loaded up and headed to Jacomo and got a permit not knowing the cost and when she hit me with the price of $42..I about fell over...But ignorant of any other prices I paid her and went on... Well they had an event last weekend and I met other people on the lake and noticed a couple and made the comment of how much I paid and they said they only paid $24 for each...so I don't know what the heck is going on... I was fishing a couple weeks back and had the kayak in the water when a park ranger pulled up and wanted to see my sticker, I had it in my vest,....... and we got to talking about kayaks and he seemed interested in mine and I gave him some business cards to give to his buddy's who kayak ( no mention of the launching area) of which I was cluless..... Well yesterday I went to the lower lake ,which has power boats, with the SOF to see what it would be like....It was windy so I picked a place where the wind would blow me back to shore to aid in trying to ride some of the boat wakes....Well after about an hr. a ranger shows up waving me back to shore....needless to say I got a $113. ticket....They allow bank fishing their only..... http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
