kwall Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 With all the hot temps during the day and also all the pleasure craft out on the weekends I was think'in bout fishin for eyes and crappie at night. Was wandering how it's been and some tactics yaw'll use -- I have a green under water light that will reach 25' , hope that will work ??
justin scobee Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Im ready for some night fishing as well. I hope to have my boat up and running next weekend or next and ill be hitting the lake. But there has not be hardly and reports I have seen the last few weeks on fishing
Members skeeterfisher Posted June 30, 2012 Members Posted June 30, 2012 Questions...So with the little bit of research I have done it sounds like flourescent green is best. For someone new, would you get in a cove close to deep water and structure, drop the light and wait? What timeframe is good, what would you fish with....if you dont care what you catch? Also do you just drop thru the light to bottom and bring up through...the lure or whatever. Or better yet if anyone is around the last week in July I will take you and you can demo...HA HA. Thanks...and good luck getn ur boat back!!
jim m Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 worked with a fellow that fished at stockton for crappie at night. in the summer he said he did his best on bare points 20' to 30' deep. he didn't want any brush or timber around at all. I would fish with minnows, might just catch a walleye or two also. I would think a big deep flat would be good also. try cruising some of these areas with the electronics and if you see schools of shad then that is where I would set up at night
Members Crappie Catcher Posted June 30, 2012 Members Posted June 30, 2012 Sounds about like I fish at night Jim m seems like I have the best luck in big open coves in 35 to 50 foot of water I use minnows with crappie nibbles. Seems like those nibbles can mean all the difference most night.
Members Crappie Catcher Posted July 1, 2012 Members Posted July 1, 2012 Heck I could go the last week in July. I need to put some in the freezer but it's been pretty slow. Let me know later if u want to .
Members ScottBRay Posted July 2, 2012 Members Posted July 2, 2012 I use the green submergable Ones but I have had just as much luck with the surface floaters
Members skeeterfisher Posted July 2, 2012 Members Posted July 2, 2012 Hey crappie catcher I will be at lake from July 30 thru August 3/4, let me know what night would work best with your schedule. Look forward too it.
