Ok, unless you have some super secret bug in your box, please tell me what you plan on using this year at the annual One Fly Contest. I'm just curious. I'll start by fessing up my own personal favorite, the "sowpig":

And if you get paired with this gal below, watch out. She'll talk your ear off and has the best "dumb" blonde luck with trout. Just ask Steve. She'll being throwing the pig too.

Yeh Robyn will take you to the fish, no doubt about it.

Well I won't be using one at all  I can't fish it. :D But I do get asked this question a lot, and I pretty much answer it the same way.

No egg patterns this year so they are done.

Woolly Buggers are hard to beat, as a generalist pattern, you can fish them deep or shallow fast or slow, drift swung or stripped.

Olive or black are very popular and work well, but yellow does well in fall and we had a bunch of guys using purple during late summer.

Scuds are being devoured right now particularly lighter colors like tan.

The Midge hatches are strong and midges produce, Ive hooked some big fish on 20s none have I landed. One of the problems with smaller hooks, your margin of error is very small.

I have a theory though that one year someone is going to take a genuyinely huge fish, on a large streamer, on a sink tip or full sink line, fishing sculpins, big woolies, bunny leeches or double bunnies. Bryce went out after the One Fly last year and stuck one fish which would have gone close to winning the one fly and lost a way bigger fish on a bunny leech. If its sunny day though your done. once the light hits the water.

Definately a gamble

Cheers

Steve

Slight change in plan. I tied up this little guy tonight and decided, what the heck! It's a variation of the TDM. Notice the rope-like tippet. Nothing breaking this bad boy off, although I'd love for something to try.
