Hook: TMC 200R BL is preferred, but a TMC 3761 can be used also. #18-22

Thread: UNI Thread 8/0 Color to match the Natural. In this case it is

black, but chocolate and olive work also.

Shuck:
White Antron. Only use a few fibers. You dont want the shuck to be huge. You can use White Polypro yarn or z lon also.

Rib:
Small Copper wire. 5-6 turns. 4 turns on the smaller sizes.

Abdomen:
Built up thread taper down to hook eye.

Wing Case:
Same as the Shuck.

When you Tie this fly, Start the thread a hook gape length behind the eye of the hook. this will also act as your stopping point for the end of your ribbing wraps as well as the tie in point for the wing case. when you tie in the wing case, you should use half of the width of the antron fibers. taper the head down to just in front of the eye of the hook and fold the wing case over the thread making sure that it is on top of the fly. Use 3 tight wraps of thread to hold in place. Divide the remaining antron in half and bend back to the sides of the fly forming the gills/exposed wings of the midge. wrap 5 more wraps of thread to hold them in place and whip finish. coat with head cement if need be.......(you shouldnt have to if your whip finish is good enough) You can also coat the thorax of the fly with head cement to give it a glossy finish if you want.

In fishing this fly, for all of you indicator fisherman out there, you can fish with weight or without it. since it is an emerging pattern, i prefer to sight fish it without weight. On the San Juan however, especially on in the Texas Hole, you need to get it down in the water so we use 2 #4 shot a foot above the fly fishing with 6x. at home, you can get away with throwing one or 2 #6 shot about 5 feet under an indicator. You can also use it as the last fly in a 2 fly rig.

Tight lines
