Members Big Bay Outdoors Posted July 10, 2012 Members Posted July 10, 2012 I am all rigged up with the canoe and headed to Springfield lake under 65 in the AM. I will probably get out there around 515 or so.... I know sun up is about 530ish, should be some decent top water action then...? I will always wonder if I should have gone somewhere else but hey, they call it fishing not catching! Big Bay Outdoors "Home of the FREE, because of the BRAVE"
jbtiwns30 Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 get yourself some plastic frogs and you can catch bass all day long. some people say top water bite is good only in the morning or at dusk but i dont believe that. this weekend we were catching bass on them all day long.
Members Big Bay Outdoors Posted July 10, 2012 Author Members Posted July 10, 2012 WOW!! Just got back and I have to say the FROG bite was ON!!! Caught about 6 largemouth this morning on BPS Kermys! I started out with a Zara spook and got one on it just about day break, although it did seem as though they shut down after about 8am. I'm going again in the morning and rigging up with nothing but FROGS!! The water is up a little and I was able to get back in some nice areas. Thanks for the reply buddy! jbtiwns30 Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 thats awsome....we went all the way back to the right in a canoe when we went. we found three back water areas that alot of bass were held up in and i do have to say its a blast. only a canoe can get into those back water areas. when you first get into the back area its real shallow at first like a ft deep maybe not even but once you get into those areas its about 3 to 4 ft deep, theres alot of bait fish and its crazy seeing the bass go after then, once they see the frog all heck breaks out.
fishbait3 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 what kind of a frog lure u talking about any info will be helpful.
jbtiwns30 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 im talking about the zoom horny toad. you can get them at bass pro for 5 bucks or around that price.
Members Big Bay Outdoors Posted July 12, 2012 Author Members Posted July 12, 2012 Yes the brand I fished with was Bass pro and the name was Kermy. Any color variation works. They have very long legs and it drove the bass nuts!! Big Bay Outdoors "Home of the FREE, because of the BRAVE"
