Jason Essary Posted July 15, 2012 Author Posted July 15, 2012 Remember this is 4 fish limit now, july and august. Fox and Woods caught an average of 16lbs two nights in a row in four fish. Awesome job. Essary Construction - Honest work for honest price Custom Construction and Remodeling Call for free quotes (417)338-6418 http://essarycustomhomes.com/
Members kyled Posted July 16, 2012 Members Posted July 16, 2012 I know this might be a dumb question, but why does the limit change to 4 fish??
Jason Essary Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 The thinking is that less bass in the livewell will keep them healthier. Less demand on the dissolved o2. Little bit easier to keep the water temp cooler also. Will go back to 5 fish in september. We strive to make sure we do all we can not to hurt them any more than we have too. Fishin Hodge Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 They did a heck of a job. Went last night in the State Park area, just checking some spots to add to the lineup, and ended up only catching 1 keeper. 3 pounder (LM) on a ledge with a salt craw. Caught lots of short brownies on the single spin on bluffs and flat banks, but I couldn't get any size to speak of. They would bite a jig too, but more shorts KY's and brownies. Jason, I know you are likely really up on the information for nightfishing on the Rock. You care to divulge any of the predominant patterns that seem to be going on for you and the fellars from the Friday nighter. Are a lot of fish being caught on worms? Any general areas of the lake that seem to be producing best or to stay away from. Not wanting you to sell the farm, but would love to hear some general info. Thanks Aaron
Jason Essary Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 Aaron, would if there was anything working worth talking about. We have caught fish in the last two weeks from 8' to 40'. Gravel and chunk rock, worms, craws, jigs. Toke my nephew a couple weeks ago and we caught quite a few on single spins. As lots of guys said about the spring, its time to junk fish. Take lots of rods, tie on lots of lures and keep moving. If you get bit, drop anchor and canvas the area with multiple lures. Really its the best I know right now. Went last night, fished from 730 to 3am. Think we only had 3 keepers. In the last tourney with a 4 fish limit, we only had 3 keepers to weigh in.
