johndarin Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Fishing has been a little tough the last couple of weeks. The Southwestern Power Administration has not been running generators most mornings but running about one during the afternoon occasionally. The water temperature is hovering around fifty one or fifty two degrees. The air temperature has been around one hundred almost every day. Fly fishing up in the trophy area has been possible almost every day because of the power generators not running. The fish have been eating a few different flies. Ants have been doing well when the fish are eating dries. Rainey's has an ant fly that is just hackle and a foam cylinder that has been working great. Midges have been working well as they do most of the time. Rusty, Primrose and Pearl or a Ruby Red midge have been the colors the fish have been hitting. These are fished under a Palsa on 6x or 7x tippet about eighteen inches deep. Below Fall Creek, out of the trophy area, worms blown up with air have been the ticket. These are fished on the bottom just like you would for catfish but the worm floats up just a little because of the air inside it. Orange and white Gulp or Powerbait has also been working well. If you are wanting to fish with a float Trout Magnets and marabou jigs are the best choices. If you are using a Trout Magnet any pinkish color will work and also Sassy, Bison, and Salmon Fix. These are fished about seven to eight feet deep under a Trout Magnet EZ Float with about 3 foot of Trout Magnet Phantom 6x or 7x tippet.
