UnCivE Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 This is a water report only, for the boaters. I didn't haul my rods today because I was with a non-fisherman. Anyway, drove up to Gravens to see how the water looked and low and behold, it's got 'No trespassing' stuff all over the place. I recall somebody mentioning that the place had sold, but I got the distinct feeling that the access is no longer an option. If anybody else knows an access around Gravens that a strict catch and release kayak fisherman could use, I'd genuinely appreciate the info. Anyway, I drove down to Adams and put in. Water is very low and VERY clear, well, where the vegetation hasn't grown over. We are due some higher water anyday now river gods... Paddled a couple miles downstream and a couple miles back up... there are no "split" channels in the river anymore, mostly just one channel has water in it, and it's usually got strainers. Took some creative kayaking to keep from getting pinned a couple times, and at the point we turned around, there was no way around the strainers without more creative maneuvering than I wanted to try at that current level. I think it goes without saying that jet boating is out of the question this far up river right now. Anyway, I'll try to put some fish in the boat for interrogation this week and I'll let you know how it goes.
