Members RainbowHunter Posted October 16, 2006 Members Posted October 16, 2006 I was down at Taney this past weekend. I fished Friday through Sunday. During the day, I wasn't able to do anything productive. I spent Friday and Saturday day out in the boat fishing from Fall Creek down to Cooper Creek and wasn't able to do ANYTHING!!! I was using everything from glo-balls, plastic worms, flies, almost everything I had in my arsenal. I just couldn't get any results. On Friday night I went out with Leonard from about 10 to 4am. It was the first time I had gone night fishing, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was really surprised by the number of people out there that time of night. Anyway, my younger sister and cousin-in-law wanted to tag along for a little bit and Leonard took us down a ways from Outlet 2 and had us stripping across the bottom. (and had my lil' sis tossing a little brown trout body bait with a spinning rod since her fly fishing skills arent' exactly up to par yet) I was able to catch a couple of fish down that way and my cousin-in-law caught a few there too (I think his only fish for the entire weekend) Those two ended up getting cold and tired of fishing around 1130 or so and left. Leonard and I worked our way back up to outlet 2 and started to fish scuds under the lighted indicators. The fishing really started to pick up there. We saw a bunch of big ones, but I wasn't able to hook up on any of them. I think I ended up with 20 to 25 fish by the end of the night. Nothing too big but I was at least catching fish. Leonard was a GREAT HELP! in showing me the ropes of night fishing. I probably wouldn't have had any luck this weekend if it weren't for Leonard's help out that night. I attempted to go back on Saturday night, but things didn't work out. I made it out Sunday morning and fished what I could, but man was it crowded up top!! I was able to get a couple of fish on scuds, but nothing to call home about. Well, that was my weekend down here. If anybody is planning on coming down soon I hope your luck is better than mine. Or at least have Leonard take you out for a night trip...He definitely has got me hooked on night fishing!...Just watch out for those beavers! They sneek up on you!
Terry Beeson Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I'll second the motion on Leonard. If he can't put you on fish at night, nobody can. I still think he has them trained and has a dog whistle he calls them up with... Sounds like you had a good trip... I'd take that success ANY time... and it's been "hit or miss" on Taney lately... Oh... and careful with Leonard's pet beavers....
