We (7yo son and I) braved the rain to float from Greer to Riverton - Saturday 8/25 to Sunday 8/26. This was my son's first float trip so I was alittle worried about the weather, but he was excited to go so we went. Glad we did, as the rain petered out by Sunday am and trip was great.

Put on at Greer around 1:30 or 2 pm on Saturday. We floated down to HSB where we camped for the night. Didnt see many folks on the river - maybe 3-4 others who were also braving the rain and spending the night on the river like us. We had a fair amount of rain on Sat., at times heavy, but no lightening. We didnt have any problems on the river with dragging or floating the riffle with the tree over the bank down from Turner. We caught 4 trout the first day in the 12-14 rang. We let all go, but kept a nice one for dinner. We made camp that night with tent + rain fly along with extra tarp tied up high over tent and cook area which keep us dry. After dinner (son ate his first trout!) and clean up, we were snoozing by 9:30.

Next morning, we woke to clouds, but no rain. After breaking camp, we hit the river by 9 and made it to Riverton by 1:45p. Sunday was really nice - sunny at times and not too hot - but warm enough to swim. Fishing was decent for the amount of time we fishing - got 3 trout and a nice smallie. My apologies to Brian at 11 Pt Canoe rental about being alittle late to Riverton, but son was having too much fun exploring Boze Mill.

Overall - trip was great. Son is alreay asking about when are we going again. I hope soon.

Gods Country for sure, wanting to float that myself someday! Great report!

There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!

Brian and Eleven Point Canoe Rental are great! They have helped me out a time or two on late arrivals...even forgot to leave them my keys for a vehicle shuttle on one float and still made it back to camp safe and sound! That was a terrible thing...feeling my keys in my pocket about 100 yards from the take-out! Felt worse for the Eleven Point Canoe Rental folks than for me!

Sounds like a great trip on one of the states best waters. Good-on-ya for introducing your son to the river!
