Members mattie Posted September 17, 2012 Members Posted September 17, 2012 I want to go fish the area accross from the Rockbridge hatchery but I want to make sure I know all the rules for the area and the state fishing handbook works great if youve lived here all your life and know where all the bridges are but i moved to this state in december so im lost. Like I said i just would like to know what area that is so I know if it is a blue or a red or if "anything goes" and I can bring the kids that cant use a fly rod, size limits, fish limits blah blah blah, I dont want to break the rules, thanks in advance and if anyone would like to give me alitlle help on fly selection that would be appriciated too, I just started fly fishing 4 months ago and my wife has gone twice we both suck but we suck together and we will figure this out eventually!!!!
Justin Spencer Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Rockbridge is a private resort where you pay to fish. I think they have different areas where they allow different things. From bait fishing to fly fishing. Good place to catch a few and get fly fishing figured out, but bring your wallet. They have a fly shop there and can get you going. Since this is in the NFoW forum, if you were thinking of coming here to trout fish unless it is very close to where you live you will be very frustrated as a new fly fisherman here. I have a little fly shop on the NFoW and can fix you up with flies, but big princes as well as hares ears and pheasant tails will get you going. Fishing from Patrick Bridge (H highway) downstream anything goes. Upstream of that it is artificials only and no soft plastics. Maybe we could do a little fishing together, I'd like to learn to catch walleye better on Norfork lake, and I might be able to teach you something about trout on the NFoW.
