timsfly Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Great weather all week, and the hoppers, beetles ants, and crickets are still working very well, and should continue to work well until the weather cools down, but with 80 degree weather called for for the rest of the week, it should continue to be good terrestrial fishing. I've been catching a lot of trout on Grizzly/green cracklebacks, adams, and para adams, elk hair caddis, blue wing olives, and small griffiths gnats. I'm using 9' 7X leaders and when you add extra tippet, I'm adding about 3' it just gets me a better drift when fishing dry flies. I'll use 9' 6X leaders when fishing woolybuggers, and larger streamers, I use 6X fluorocarbon when fishing small nymphs, I just add about 3 feet of tippet to the end of my standard mono leaders. I've been using a olive woolybugger a lot in the mornings, #14's have been working very well for me. Chamois worms, small egg patterns, and san juan worms will work all day long every day right now, the water is perfect for sight fishing right now. Micro jigs, marabou jigs and woolybugger jigs in white, tan, brown, black, and black/yellow have all been good colors. Glo-balls in orange, white, oregon cheese/red dot, chartreuse and pink have all been good colors. If you are going to use a spinner, then black, brown, or olive have been working well. Plastic worms in orange, white, cheese yellow, pink and flo. green have all been good. Power bait eggs use, white, flo. yellow, hatch brown, pink, and chartreuse have all been good colors. In zone 3 power bait paste, in yellow or red/white/blue or pink have been good. Still catching a lot of trout on night crawlers and corn, good luck this week.
