Up until now I have just blended different dubbings by hand (scissors and fingers)but have heard in fly tying circles about using coffee grinders? I don't drink coffee so I'm not sure what styles are used or what works best for blending dubbing? Does anyone out there use the coffee grinder method or is there something that works better? I've tried the wifes food processor and wasn't impressed (neither was she!). Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Go to Walmarts and pick up a coffee bean grinder. It would be in the same area as the coffee pots. I believe the last one I purchased was under ten bucks, but you don't want to use it for anything but dubbing. I have mine clearly marked so by coffee beans are fuzzless [if that's a word].

I use the Mr Coffee grinder - yes available at WM for under $10. Easy to clean but just make sure it is unplugged before you stick your finger inside!!!

I dunno, Steve... possum flavored coffee is not too bad... But the best expresso has just a touch of red fox squirrel tail in it...

Thanks for the info guys. I'm going to head to wal-mart after work and see if I can't find one of those Mr Coffee grinders. That's what makes this forum so great, quality information from good people who've been there and done that. Although hopefully Terry's finger comment didn't come from experience!!

I don't know about that Terry; the wife finds very little humor in finding loose hairs in her Starbucks grind. However, red fox expresso does sound interesting.

I used to use my coffee grinder to blend my dubbing. Now I use my dubbing blender to grind my coffee.
