Looks like they may be opening a new store here in kc about 2 minutes from my house. Anybody familiar with them? Guessing similar to Bass Pro or Cabella'S but not sure.

Scheels is a pretty good store, the have a very nice one up in Omaha near my mothers house. I bought a rod from them when I was a kid that was the scheels brand and still have it 16 years later and it's my favorite light action. They are similar to the other stores only they tend to carry more all around sports gear, like golf, rock climbing, running, soccer etc...

They opened one here in Springfield, IL and they are a step up from the other places. Prices are a bit higher but the customer service and the associates knowledge can't be beat. Definitely a good store to shop.

I remember when Scheels was just a little MN set of stores. I lived in Mn for 35 years, and Scheels had a great rep up there where they started. Good to see they are expanding. I have not shopped at one in a few years now, but they sure had a great rep for quality stuff, good prices and great service.

My grandkids love Scheels! The one here in Omaha has a ferris wheel right in the middle. Each dept. seems to be a little more thorough and better presented as compared to the other stores. It's more of a department store in my opinion. The associates are great for the most part. Around the holidays the help can be a little less knowledgeable.

All good to here.... rumor here is that it would open in 2015. Told my wife I hope they have a coffee shop, because ill be in there 4 days a week just to look around and waste time.

Hell, may even apply during holiday season to make some extra cash and walk home.

I know- however, around this area NOTHING moves fast. Most residents in the area put up one heck of a fight anytime there is a chance of a big business or new development takes place. If I were them, I probably would too- for the most part, the location backs up to an area with $1 million + homes so I'm sure they picture their home values quickly declining.
